Bike Preparation

Due to the nature of riding your motorcycle around the track, its extremely important to make sure it is in good working order prior to getting to the track. Many of these points are common sense, but we do go over every bike that will be on track at Tech inspection in the morning.   If for some reason your bike does not pass tech inspection, you will have the opportunity to fix the issue however if it can not be resolved you will not be eligible for a refund.

Things to check include:

Headlight, Tail Lights, and Turn Signals
All lenses must be taped over completely or removed, No light can be showing through.   We also recommend pulling the fuses to keep your lenses from melting while taped over. In the case of an incident this prevents broken glass and plastic from remaining on the track surface, and overall reduces distractions to other riders.

Mirrors
We HIGHLY recommend removing them completely.  However mirrors must be taped at a very minimum.   When riding on the track, everyone is moving in the same direction leaving no use for the added distraction of checking your mirrors.   We want your focus to be what is happening in front of you.

License Plates
All license plates must be removed completely!

Steering Head Nut
Must be securely tightened, please check to make sure that it is not loose and there is no play.

Oil Filter
Make sure that your oil filter is properly installed and screwed on tightly. The high RPMs that your bike will be running at through out the day can risk vibrating it loose, causing oil to spill onto the track surface. A good way to ensure this doesn’t happen is to put a hose clamp around your filter, and wire it to the engine pulling clockwise.

Drain Plug
While we don’t require your oil drain plug to be wired shut, please make sure that it is torqued to spec and will not vibrate loose. Any oil on the track surface can be a danger and the track will have to be shut down until it is cleaned up!

Coolant
Some organizations require you to flush your coolant and replace it with water. While this is recommended, it is not a requirement. Please make sure that all your hose clamps are secured and your coolant levels are correct.

Tires/Valve Stems/Wheel Weights
Its important that your tires have plenty of life left in them before riding on the track! If your tires have less than 75% of their tread left, we ask that you replace them. Riding on the track can get hard on tires and its important to be prepared for that. Street and Competition will have Bridgestone tire services available at the track if new tires need to be purchased and mounted. We also require valve stems have caps, preferably metal but plastic OEM caps are fine. Wheel balancing weights must be safely secured, preferably taped over to ensure they will stay in place.

Drive Train
Inspect your chain/belt and sprockets for any rust or wear, and lube or replace if necessary.

Brakes/Pads
Your brakes are the most important aspect of your motorcycle to ensure your safety.   Please insure that you have PLENTY of brake pad left and all pins and bolts are secured or torqued to spec.   Your brakes need to be in good working condition, and don’t stick or “drag” at all.

Throttle/Kill Switch
Your throttle must snap closed when released! Make sure that your grips or cables are not restricting the return on your throttle. We also require that all bikes have a working handlebar mounted kill switch.
